MY VIDEO CLIPS

Over the years, I’ve played in a few bands, recorded songs, and poems, and a variety of other daft stuff

This is a concoction of some wee vids I produced, very simply, using  nothing more than Windows Movie Maker and Photoshop, to illustrate & accompany my known-sense

Here they are

BAZINGA

An old music track that I played & recorded many years back …

I added lotsa clips and Bazingas, and a classic bit of Airplane

The picture quality is crap, I know … all I could find in a hurry!!

ALIENS

A song I recorded maybe a decade back, with the help of my son, Kahl, and friends, Paul Dowie on guitar, and Paul Dowie doing the recording

The topic of UFO’s and alien overlords still haunts many, whereas I believe the aliens are definitely amongst us … they’re called capitalists

ALIENS

Unidentified Flying Objectivity
There’s aliens about, so, watch out
It might be you
It might be me
You look alright, but I still got my doubts
Everybody’s suspect, no one’s innocent
All taking part in an alien experiment
Filling us with chemicals and changing our air
I wonder if you are aware

We are surrounded by aliens
In every town, there’s an alien
Don’t look round
There’s an alien
And there’s no running away

Everybody’s talking ’bout alien visitors
Contemplation of invasion
All they need is good solicitors
Legalising murder and mass starvation
Jobs as policemen and policewomen
They ain’t half funny
And they ain’t half-human
It might get better
It might get worse
When earth becomes the nigger of the universe

They don’t have tails
They don’t have tentacles
They wear nice suits and gold-rimmed spectacles
Changing slowly
Changing time
Changing bodies and changing minds
Taking over the population
Effecting a mass mutation
Your resistances will be overcome
Your disbelief at what I’m saying
Is the first symptom

We are surrounded by aliens
In every town, there’s an alien
Don’t look round
There’s an alien
And there’s no running away

Unidentified Flying Objectivity
There’s aliens about
So, WATCH OUT

TELL ME WHY

Stu Who?

A poem that I wrote, performed over a bit of music that I wrote, and played, … they just fitted perfectly together somehow

“Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings” sounds like screen directions for a crap, porn film  … but it also has that ring of truth to it … Kids can ask the most naive and simplistic of questions that cut through the bullshit and flim-flam, getting right to the heart of the matter … the real questions which need answering

THE BIG CHILL

Stu Who?

A piece of music that my son, Kahl, wrote and produced some years ago, which I then added some piano and strings, and did a collage of clips to go with it

A wee bit of chill-out

Spoken pieces from V, George Carlin , Jaccques Fresco, Elizabeth Jennings, and a woman talking about Money. I that I hope someone will identify her for me.

SO ARE YOU

Stu Who?

A love song especially for those who’ve been dumped … for a best friend

Do join in on the chorus!!

SANDRA CLAWS

Stu Who?

A Xmas Story written and performed by Stu Who?, with backing music from Chet AtkinsI wrote this a long time ago, and I’m maybe a bit unsure of the “hooker” references nowadays … but, it’s still funny, I think.

Help The Homeless and Elderly at Xmas!!

BLOOD MUSIC

Dum Dum

A song I wrote and recorded, as DUM DUM, with Paul and Kahl , at Paul Cotton’s wee studio in Edinburgh, sometime in the late 90’s
.
The song was originally inspired by seeing a famous Esso advert for petrol, which featured a tiger climbing in snowy mountains, which I thought was quite ironic as their jungle environments were being destroyed by the same corporate greed that Esso was (in)famous for, and that’s why tigers were being driven to live in higher ground, to escape man’s destruction. It seemed symbolic of our environmental fight with corporate insanity.

ANOTHER BLOODY WAR

Itai Itai (1)

.

This song was recorded in the 80’s, with the original ITAI ITAI, at Barclay Tower Studios in Edinburgh, by the fantastic Tony Pilley … an absolute gem of a man, who taught me a wealth of knowledge on recording and tape-editing during the lengthy process of creating this track.

.

ITAI ITAI(1) was:

Robert Moffat, who did some stunning guitar

Frank Anson’s on belting, bouncing bass

Rab Buchanan on chunky, psychedelic keyboards

Kowboy’s first ever session produced a blisteringly powerful rhythm track

.

I played guitar, a bit of bass, smacked floorboards with Kowboy to get that snare sound, and did all the vocals … except for the opening verse which, I believe, includes Robert

.

Still one of my favourite recordings

.

And a big thanx to Kowboy for persuading me to dig out the recording, and renew acquaintance with some of my old songs

STUCK IN A HOLE

Itai Itai (2)

.

An Itai Itai song from the 80’s / This was, I reckon, the first track that was totally a “band composition”, which came from messing about with percussion on upturned paint tins and a couple of acoustic geetars

.

We were never looking to do pop music, and still sound like no-one else but ourselves

.

I like that

.

ITAI ITAI (2) was:

.

Stu Who? – Vocals & Guitar

.

Aln McNiven – Vocals & Guitar

.

Rab Morrison – Guitar
.

Craig Stronach – Drums
.

Kowboy – Drums

.

Jim Dorman & Peter Litster, our crew, were also major contrubutors to the band, and its performance

BIG JAKE

Apocalypse Now & Then

Stu Who?

.

A story-poem by Glaswegian comedian Stu Who?, from back-in-the-day, with a newly created video to illustrate its private detective, film-noir theme.

.

The music & production were created by Stu Who? & Kahl Henderson

.

The poem is by Stu Who?

Dum Dum

>

Dum Dum was Stu Who? and Dowzer (Paul Dowie), with production duties shared between Stu and Kahl Henderson, and recorded with the wonderous help of Paul Cotton and his studio facilities in Edinburgh

.

Stu wrote and sang the songs, played guitar & keyboards, bass and drums

.

Dowzer played guitar, and saxophone, and drove us around in an astonishing array of cars – different one every few weeks or so

.

Dowzer was cool.

DO IT AGAIN

Dum Dum

.

Recorded in the late 90’s, and written by Stu Who?, with a wee vid by Stu, done in 2009

SEE POLITIX

Stu Who?

.

I wrote the poem way back in the 80’s, and have performed varied, live re-incarnations of it over the years

.

I was stuck in a hotel room in Southampton for a week in 2008, doing Xmas gigs, and amused myself by doing this version using a favourite track by the band “Underworld” (Best Mamgu Ever) as backing

.

.

WEE WILLIE NUTTER

Stu Who?

.

A tale of midgets, bestiality, ventriloquism & Rock’n Roll – Another silly poem from Stu Who?, first written & performed by me back in the 70’s, I reckon … I’ve updated the lyrics slightly, at the end, as the original’s mention of Barry Manilow was funny, but rather dated

.

.

SEXUAL  EDUCATION

Stu Who?

.

Another poem what I wrote, from my days as a singer/songwriter, back in the 80’s, when the threat of AIDS was a frightening thought

.
